Ecstatic Dance in Da Nang and Hoi An
Ecstatic dance is free movement with no steps to learn and no one watching you. The music carries you. Your body decides how to move. There is no right way to do it.
In Da Nang, Extaticaa holds these nights by the ocean. No alcohol. No phones. Just drums, a warm room, and a room that moves as one. You can come knowing no one and leave feeling held.
What ecstatic dance is
It is a dance with no choreography. The music starts slow and builds like a wave. You follow it. You close your eyes if you want. You move the way your body asks, fast or slow, big or still.
There is no talking on the floor and no phones. That silence is what lets people drop their guard. After an hour your thinking quiets down and your body takes over. Many people say it feels like the deepest rest they have had in months.
What a night looks like
We open with a cacao ceremony. You drink a warm cup of pure cacao made by hand. It opens the chest and softens the body before the dance begins.
Then the music rises. Live drums set the floor. A live saxophone finds you at sunset. The room moves together, then breaks apart, then comes back. Near the end there is fire, stillness, and a quiet circle where we sit and let the night settle.
You can read the full arc of a night, from the first cup to the last breath, on our the night page.
Who comes to ecstatic dance in Da Nang
People who arrive alone. Couples who want to feel each other again. Travelers passing through and locals who come every time. People who have danced for twenty years, and people who have never moved in front of others before.
You do not need to know how to dance. You only need to be willing. The room takes care of the rest.
What to bring and what to wear
Wear something loose you can sweat in. Bare feet on the floor is the rule. Bring a water bottle and a light scarf for after, when your body cools down. Leave your phone at the entrance.
